Robin Kelley remembers, all I did was raise my hand and say, "I’ll do that.” Next thing I know it’s 17 years later and I have held
every office in my chapter, been Area VI Director (2011-13) and am currently Treasurer for both my
chapter and area. It was simple and has been very rewarding.
Teaching has always been my calling, but I did not heed it until 1984. My son was 6 and my husband
changed his life so I could go to college. I received my Liberal Arts degree from CSU Sacramento, and my
teaching credentials from Chapman University in 1989.
I taught for 25 years in the same rural school district in El Dorado County, CA. I spent 18 of those years
teaching a Multi-age K-2 class, which as the kind of teacher that I am, was a precious gift. I thought I
would teach forever, but I retired almost two years ago, and have not regretted one moment.
I did not know I had it in me to be any kind of a leader, but DKG women see things and help them come
to fruition. It is an honor to serve.
